B.A. in Creative Writing

The B.A. major in Creative Writing requires a minimum of 40 semester hours, 12 of which must be at or above the 300 level.

All Creative Writing Majors must complete the following:
CNAR 101Intro to Narrative Studies3.0
Three creative writing courses at the 200 level. THEA 235 can count for one of these. One of these courses must be a multi-genre course, such as ENGL 220, ENGL 242, ENGL 243, or ENGL 245. 9.0
One course from Digital Media & Journalism. Work with your advisor to find an appropriate course for this requirement. 3.0
Three literature in context electives. Two of these electives must be from the department’s literature offerings. One elective can be HIST 186 or a course from any of the Narrative, Meaning, and Media Center's disciplines that places literature in a cultural or historical context.9.0
