Academic Centers
At Principia, we recognize every student is infinitely capable and divinely whole.
Find Your Center
A center isn't just a place, dedicated to a certain pursuit.
Your center is also an emotional and spiritual equilibrium: a gravitational mean that keeps you grounded, steady, and true to yourself. At Principia College, your center is the core from which your infinite capability radiates.
Our whole-person approach to education includes a new model for the Liberal Arts. Our fields of study are housed in five Academic Centers that become the hub of your academic and social life. Here you’ll learn to think critically, creatively, and collaboratively, preparing you to be a leader in your chosen field and an agent of positive change in the world.
Center for Business and Computer Science: Examine the rapidly evolving intersection of business, artificial intelligence, data science, and math. Hone your quantitative skills, develop your talent for innovation, and cultivate an agile, entrepreneurial mindset.
Center for Civic and Global Engagement: Challenge assumptions and ask deep questions as you explore solutions to complex issues. Practice curiosity, humility, collaboration, self-awareness, and respectful communication across difference to become an effective local and global citizen who serves and heals our communities.
Center for Narrative, Meaning, and Media: Broaden your moral imagination and investigate the cross-cultural power of narrative. Connect the wisdom of history, religious studies, journalism, and creative expression to discover and share stories that lead to a better world.
Center for Sustainability, Ecology, and Chemistry: Immerse yourself in hands-on learning in our research labs and our 2,600-acre forested campus. Join the award-winning Solar Car program, practice land stewardship, and lead sustainability initiatives that build skills for a socially, ecologically, and economically sustainable future.
Center for the Arts: Perform, produce, and turn ideas into reality. Work across disciplines to create visual art, graphic and theatrical design, music, theatre, dance, new media, and photography. Collaborate with students, world-class guest artists, and dedicated, professional artists on the faculty. Learn how to give and receive feedback that will make you a valuable team member and leader. Explore your own interests and then take your art into the local, national, and international community!
