Cox Cottage Spiritual Life Center

The Spiritual Life Center at Cox Cottage supports the spiritual and religious needs of the entire Principia College community. It provides a peaceful and quiet refuge for individual and group prayer, spiritual study, and activities that nurture spiritual growth and reflection. Anyone is welcome to use the beautiful and serene building for a solo retreat or a group gathering that has a spiritual or religious purpose. Currently, the Christian Science Organization (CSO) as well as student Interfaith Fellows hold meetings and activities in the building. Initially constructed as a home for Christian Science nursing care on campus, today Cox Cottage has expanded its resources and programs and welcomes students of all religious backgrounds. Here you can still receive Christian Science nursing care, and you can also meet with a Christian Science practitioner or the College Chaplain. Christian Science nursing care is practical, nonmedical nursing care for anyone wishing to rely on Christian Science for physical healing and restoration. Christian Science practitioners meet privately and confidentially with students to pray for healing of various challenges, whether illness, injury, stress, mental health struggles, relationship problems, financial issues, or whatever is going on in someone’s life that might benefit from prayer. And the College Chaplain also meets confidentially with students of any religious background to provide spiritual care, crisis support, and/or to help students find answers to their spiritually or ethically based questions as well as make meaning out of their experiences. To utilize any of these resources, simply reach out to the Director of Spiritual Life or anyone on the Spiritual Life team to schedule an appointment, or enjoy a walk down Lilac Lane and come in to say hello.
