Mistake House
Originally known as the "Sample House" and now affectionately known as the "Mistake House," this building is actually no mistake. It was constructed by architect Bernard Maybeck between April and June 1931 to experiment with different construction techniques to determine methods that could be used on future campus dormitories and buildings. The Mistake House also served as a reference point for written instructions coming from his San Francisco office to his workers in Elsah. The result is a charming structure that is beloved by many.
